Meet Jan - My story

As an adult student, embarking on a new career path I was excited, nervous, and aware I'd not opened academic books or completed any formal study in 30 years.
It felt like my "first day at school" however the difference this time was UNlearning information gathered over the years that was neither useful or serving me well.

I'm a naturally positive person and consider all situations, learning opportunities, so loved how this new information was teaching me to look at things from a new perspective. For example, if I began to think of mistakes as mis-takes and understand the differences between "perfection" and "excellence", I was able to identify some old limiting beliefs I'd held on to for years, and leave them behind. The layers began to peel away as I began to discover to REAL ME.

I'm now in my 10th year of business, supporting clients aged between 13 to 80.  We are never too old to recognise and let go of two natural emotions, and I know how fear and vulnerability feels. I also know the feeling of being empowered and my trainings have taught me the importance of listening without judgement. This is a skill I bring to my coaching and training sessions. The biggest gift I have received from my coaching career is a sense of purpose.

I define wisdom as "knowledge with understanding" and part of my work involves assisting people to appreciate their own wisdom.  My combined trainings have gifted me a healthy, and respectful appreciation of how life experiences shape and teach us all so differently.

We are all a "work in progress" - walking the same road called "life".  Being at difference places/spaces on that road, it's nice to be assisted and supported by others along the way.  Having someone to talk to who is neither "attached" to our outcome and without a hidden agenda, gives us "space" to think things through more clearly.

I have completed trainings in the following modalities and they have assisted me to grow in the following way:

*
NLP
expanded my model of the world
* Neuro Semantics gave my model higher meaning & understanding
* Life Coach training broadened and extended my horizons
* ICF credentialing took me to a new platform of professional growth
* Certifying as a Meta NLP/NS Trainer
increased my self confidence
   regarding my professional understanding of the knowledge/skills gained
*
Coach-U and Navigational Coach Facilitation training allowed me to

  recognise the "difference that makes the difference" between ICF's
   definition of coaching and cognitive behavioural coaching.

Prior to Coaching
I completed nurse training many years ago and on returning from overseas moved into health care administration. I ran my own secretarial/administrative contracting business and worked in a variety of roles and environments within New Zealand and overseas.

My role as a coach is to extend and expand your thoughts so you develop your own strategies for dealing with any given issue. I listen and hear what is being said. My coaching is not a prescription with set answers for every situation. Your belief patterns determine your comfort zone. Periodically beliefs need to be revisited especially when they affect, and, in extreme cases, even govern your perception of yourself, your abilities, your potential and your opportunities

My questions seek to assist you to identify, clarify, and focus completely on what you want from your life. Being asked the right questions permits you to discover, create and develop the skills you need to transform your life the way you want it to be.
Expect to have fun too.

My Passion is supporting people reach their full potential and capacity.

Working alongside you in a non-judgmental, encouraging, challenging, supportive manner, we start from where you are at. Coaching is about YOU. It's YOUR journey and YOUR agenda.

Together
 we discover your goals, your values, your beliefs and your vision

We work as a 'success team" in a professional partnership of mutual respect and trust.  What I have learned along the way is that learning is not a destination, it is a journey of self discovery.

If you would like support on your own journey I'd be honoured to be your personal coach.
